HomeMy WebLinkAbout1932_03_02 Town Board MinutesREGULAR i17T1NG OF THE TOWN BOARD TOWN OF MAKAROY7GE, N. Y. held March 2nd, 1932. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9:35 P. M. Present: Supervisor Burton Justices Boyd, Leeds, Hessersmith and Burbank Town Clerk Marvin. The presence was also noted of Special Counselor J. Henry Esser. M Special Counselor Esser informed the Board that in accordance with instructions he had obtained a surety bond for H. Rodman Dillon, Deputy to the Receiver of Taxes, in the amount of $25,000.. Upon motion by Justice Messersmith, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was upon roll call unanimously RESOLVED, that the bond in the amount of J25,000® for H. Rodman Dillon, Deputy to the Receiver of Taxes, as presented by Special Counselor J. Henry Esser be and it hereby is approved and the cost of same made a proper town charge. A communication dated March 2nd was received from Arthur Y. Zimmerman requesting rezoning of property on the southeast side of the Boston Post Road about 350 feet north of the Hommocks Road for purposes of operating a pet shop and dog kennel. The matter was ordered referred to a committee composed of Justices Burbank and Leeds and Town Clerk Marvin. A communication dated March 2nd was received from the Mamaroneck_ Relief Committee, Charles M. Baxter, Jr., Chairman, requesting an appropriation of x;300.00 similar to the appropriation, heretofore made by the Town Board to the Larchmont Relief organization® After discussion, it was upon motion by Justice Messersmith, seconded by the Town Clerk, upon roll call unanimously RTSCIVTD, that the sum of x`300.00 be and it hereby is appropriated for the Mamaroneck Relief Committee if said appropriation is deemed legal by Counsel$ when, as and if the necessary funds are in hand. A communication dated February 15th from Harvey Conover, Jr. addreseed to the Receiver of Taxes in regard to payment of taxes, together with a check in the amount of $126.652 was received from the Receiver of Taxes and referred to Counsel for an opinion. <? report was received from Counsel recommending denial of the claim of the Child ;welfare Association of Mamaroneck for refund of taxes paid on its property= located on Stanley Avenue. Upon motion by Justice Lessersmith, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was upon roll call unanimously RES017 D, that the report of Counsel on the request of the Child Welfare Association. of Mamaroneck for refund of taxes be received, the recosrimendation adopted, and the refund denied. A copy of a resolution adopted by the Larchmont Gardens Assoc- iation on February 18th in regard to the proposed reduction of electric light rates in the County was received from John. La Delius, Secretary of the Association. After discussion, it was upon motion by Justice Messersmith, seconded by Justice Leeds, unanimously R£SOIN7D � E7REAS the matter of a proposed reduction in the electric light rates was heretofore presented to this Board and 7H7R7AS Counsel was heretofore directed to represent this Board at any hearings and meetings held in connection therewith, now therefore be it RFSCIVFD, that the Supervisor be directed to confer with Counsel to see that action should be taken in accordance with the resolution of the Larchmont Gardens Association and that both the Supervisor and Counsel report back to this Board on this matter at any regular or special meeting. At 10:25 the Board unanimously xesolved to recess to meet again at the call of the chair to eke up such matters as might properly come before it. Town filer.
