DATE: June 23, 1992
SUBJECT: Minutes, Town of Mamaroneck
Board of Ethics
Tuesday, May 5, 1992
A meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck Board of Ethics was called to order
on Tuesday, May 5, 1992 at 8:00 PM. All board members were present at
the meeting. Also present was John McGarr, Town Board Liaison.
A listing of the names, addresses and phone numbers of current board
members was distributed to each person present. A copy of the revised
and current Code of Ethics will be mailed to each member of the board.
The board members discussed the issue raised by Supervisor Caroline
Silverstone as to whether or not members of the Zoning Board or
Planning Board are precluded from running for elective office in the
Town by the Code of Ethics. Upon reviewing the current code, it was
unanimously determined that no such preclusion is contained in the
code, nor was it the intent of those who drafted the code to preclude
such political activity. An opinion letter will be sent to Supervisor
Silverstone.
The Ethics Board members requested that John McGarr advise the members
as to the current status of the Perciasepe matter. Mr. McGarr will
also inform the members of the procedures currently in place to inform
firms and individuals doing business with the Town of their obligation
to disclose campaign contributions pursuant to Section 24-6 E of the
Code of Ethics. Mr. McGarr will also assist us in setting up a system
to review employee disclosure statements.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:00 PM. No date has been
set for the next meeting.
