HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997_02_27 Board of Ethics Minutes BOARDETHICSminl February 27, 1997 At a special meeting of the Town of Mamaroneck(TOM) Board of Ethics (BOE), on February 27, 1997 in Conference Room A, Mamaroneck Town Center, meeting called to order by Chairwomen at 8:00 P.M. Present: Anna Reisman, Chairwoman. Christine Helwig Martin Ronan Robert Degen Absent: Barry Weprin. liaison The minutes of September 19, 1996 were approved with corrections in spelling, date of last meeting. Reports: Chairwoman announces that she has reminded Town Supervisor that there remains a vacancy on BOE. Chairwoman circulates a copy of letter addressed to Supervisor regarding matter before BOE. ISSUE: This meeting was called at the request of the Town Supervisor to address whether the Code of the Town of Mamaroneck governs the conduct of an employee in a sensitive position who appeared before a board in another municipality by which the employee had previously been employed. Discussion followed. Based on the facts presented to the BOE, the actions of the employee in a sensitive position do not give rise to a matter regulated by the Code. ISSUE: discussion of outstanding disclosure statements - several 1996 statements have not been delivered. BOE notes that Code provides for filing of disclosure on January 31 of each year. BOE not certain that statements have been sent to employees. Chairwomen to ask Clerk and/or Supervisor. Code also provides for signing of form declaring that each employee in a sensitive position has read the Code, understands same, and has not violated the Code. BOE to revise present disclosure statement, adding language from Code applying this declaration. BOE also agrees to request that all disclosure statements be filed by January 31 each year. BOE notes enforcement provision in Code. Date for this year to be set at next meeting. Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 1997 at 8:00 P.M. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
