CALL TO ORDER N.Y,
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jacobson at 8:03 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Jacobson asked if there were any additions or corrections to the December 14, 1999 Minutes. There
being none, on a motion made by Ms. Washington, seconded by Ms. Commender, the Minutes of the
December 14, 1999 meeting were unanimously approved.
• Chairman Jacobson read the application as follows:
CASTRO CONVERTIBLE/Sigfrido Diaz- 1289 Boston Post Road-Block 412,Lot 489-sign(10/21/99;
11/18/99; 12/14/99)
Due to the fact that Castro Convertible was not present at this time, the next mater was called.
VILLAGE SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER/Nicholas DeGiacomo - 1262 Boston Post Road - Block
407, Lot 192 - signs
Nicholas DeGiacomo, the sign contractor for Kranzco, appeared. He said that the original directory
signage that was at that location came down. The new signage will be internally illuminated and much
smaller to meet the code. The top part, Village Square, will be stencil cut with yellow plexiglass behind
it. The bottom, which ar- all removable panels for the tenants, will be the same color background with
an ivory letter. The only thing that will light up on the sign will just be the lettering, nothing else. They
are internally illuminated.
After some discussion, Mr. Immerman said he would have preferred that the color of all the letters be the
same ivory, with which the Board agreed.
Mr. Jacobson asked Mr. Carpaneto how high the directory can be by code.
Mr. Carpaneto said they can go 14 ft. high.
Mr. Jacobson said the design appears to comply, with which Mr. Carpaneto agreed.
• On a motion made by Mr Immerman, seconded by Ms. Commender, the following resolution was
unanimously ADOPTED:

At this time, the Board discussed the revised drawings submitted by Robert Stanziale for 2 Madison
Avenue, Block 133, Lot 602.
• Ms. Commender commented on the tree to be replaced at the corner of the adjacent parking lot.
Mr. Jacobson said that is in the Minutes of the meeting.
Mr. Carpaneto said he will attach a copy of the December 14, 1999 meeting Minutes, highlighting the
portion regarding the tree when handling this matter.
A discussion then ensued regarding a conversation Mr. Carpaneto and Mr. Jacobson had regarding Castro's
intentions with respect to the signage on the building.
Mr. Carpaneto informed the Board that he had spoken with Castro after the December 14, 1999 BAR
meeting about the signage on the side and front of the building. He informed them that the signage on the
side is not permitted by zoning, which they agreed not to do. They also spoke about the Board not feeling
that the front sign is architecturally acceptable, which they also dropped. The only item left on the
application is the monumei.: sign. There will be no other signage. Mr. Carpaneto said Castro also asked
about some plantings and he told them that would be up to the Board.

The next meeting of the BAR will be held on February 17, 2000.
