Robert Wassman, Chairman Also Present: Ronald A. Carpaneto, Director of Building CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Acting Chair Washington at 8:20 PM. APPROVAL OF MINUTES • There was no discussion regarding previous open minutes. Acting Chair Washington read the applications as follows: INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES (IHOP) — 1375 Boston Post Road — Block 411, Lot 196.1 — facade and sign(adjourned 10/9/03) IHOP- Terry Abney presented for IHOP The Board discussed the application. The following comments were made: 1. The applicant eliminated the bright red and yellow colors from the first submission. 2. The elevation of the sign as proposed is too high and cannot be seen from the Post Road until you are in the parking lot. The applicant has agreed to lower the awning for better symmetry and add the sign to the face of the awning. 3. The lettering on the awning sign will be backlit as at Country Curtains. 4. The colors for the roof and the brickwork are acceptable and the applicant is allowed to start work on the roof and the brickwork now 5. The applicant agreed to keep the front of the building as proposed on the plan and to install address number clearly on the front of the building. No separate trim colors are to be used at the areas. • • Board of Architectural Review November 20, 2003 Page 2 • 6. The front awning is to be a solid color and the gable over the front is to be comprised of the two beige colors. The darker beige is to be the trim and the lighter color is to be the field. 7. The applicant is to send the Director of Building alternates of the color scheme of the gable trim and field, and the awning showing the color and the sign, this will be mailed to Members. EAST COAST AUTO BODY, INC.—4 Valley Place—Block 131, Lot 3—sign East Coast-Joseph Angiletta owner and Mike Fredrick from Unique Signs presented for East Coast Auto Body. The following comments were made: 1. Owner should install an address number sign on the street facade of the building. 2. The owner will appear before the Board for approval of any exterior changes that he wishes to make in the future. 3. The sign is approved according to the plans presented this evening. VIA GIUSTI LLC/PLATES/Matthew Karp—121 Myrtle Boulevard—Block 126, Lot 261 -sign Plates-Wendy Weinstein/Karp presented for Plates. • The following comments were made: 1. Regular maintenance issues such as the dumpster enclosure, and broken windows should be repaired. The garden at the side, while on Town property, should also be addressed. 2. The air conditioner ducts and air vents should be masked. 3. Additional lights on the front of the building should match the original lights on the building. 4. The sign and awning application is approved as presented. GENERAL BRONZE LLC/Arthur Wexler-615 Fifth Avenue, Block 131, Lot 344—facade revisions General Bronze -Arthur Wexler presented for General Bronze The following comments were made: 1. The Board felt that the garage area should also be finished with the "drivit" material. 2. The flags in the front are to be the US flag and a NYS flag. 3. The color of the exterior of the building is to be Manor White (color by DRIVIT). 4. The number 615 should be placed on a dark green field (no other signage was presented). 5. The metal cap atop the wall should match the drivit color. 6. The flagpoles should be the brushed aluminum color. 7. The Board accepts the fence as built. 8. The application is approved as presented in accordance with the suggested changes. 44 Board of Architectural Review November 20, 2003 Page 3 • NEW BUSINESS No new business at this time NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the BAR will be held on December 18, 2003. ADJOURNMENT Upon a motion duly made and seconded,the meeting was unanimously adjourned.
