APPROVAL OF MINUTES Upon a motion made and duly seconded the minutes of October 21 and November 18, 2004 meetings were unanimously approved as amended. • Chairman Wassman read the applications as follows: NAIL HOUSE- 1262 Boston Post Road Block 407, Lot 192-signs-adjourned to January 20, 2005 ALICE'S INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY SALON - 168-170 Myrtle Boulevard Block 133, Lot 657-sign Mr. Pedro Mendes, owner of the salon, approached the Board and explained the application. Mr. Mendes stated the reason for the application for the new awning sign was a result of a violation issued by the Building Department. Mr. Carpaneto explained that a complaint had been made and our Code Enforcement Officers followed through. The Board felt the proposed sign was to heavy and there were too many different fonts between the awning sign and signage on the glass. The Board suggested the print be similar on all signage. After some discussion the Board had agreed the existing sign was more acceptable than the proposed sign. The Board decided to have a second look at the area and report back at a later meeting. • Board of Architectural Review January 22, 2004 Page 2 • MERCEDES BENZ OF LARCHMONT-2500 Boston Post Road Block 503, Lot 123-facade and site plan Joseph Crocco, Architect for the project, approached the Board and explained the application. Mr. Crocco explained that the application involved new parking lot lighting, façade changes, signs and landscaping. Mr. Crocco also displayed the proposed colors for the building and signs. The Board had the following comments: 1. The Board felt the addition of the columns to support the canopy was a good addition to the building. The Board also felt the color choices for the proposed exterior was acceptable. 2. The elevation drawings should show signage, as this is a strong feature of the design of the building. 3. The brick paved circle in the front parking lot should be landscaped. 4. The trees in front of the building conflict with the canopy and should be rethought. 5. The existing landscaping hedge/strip along the sidewalk should have some planting added to it. 6. The pilaster/column intended for the Mercedes symbol is a good design feature, but a variance for the size and height of a sign above the parapet would have to be obtained for approval. 7. The Board felt there are better options open for the presentation of the main signage for the building (Mercedes of Larchmont). • NEW BUSINESS -No new business at this time NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the BAR will be held on January 20, 2005.
