APPROVAL OF MINUTES
• Minutes of the meeting of December 13, 2005 were not reviewed.
Chairman Jacobson opened the discussion of impending revisions to the interior signage
regulations of the Town Code.
Board members have each received copies of signage regulations of neighboring
communities including Larchmont, New Rochelle, Scarsdale, Port Chester, Rye and the
Village of Mamaroneck.
Although the study of the regulations of these communities raises interesting questions
about the broader subject of control of all signage, Chairman Jacobson urged the Board to
focus its attention as narrowly as possible on the issues of interior signage so that the
meeting could be productive and conclusive.
After lengthy discussion the Board arrived at the following conclusions as the basis for
recommendations to the Town Board:
The Board shall have the authority to approve permanent interior signage
which addresses a street in commercial establishments which is placed on
the window or is within six (6) feet of a window.
Interior signage as described above shall be limited in total area to eight (8)
square feed or five (5) per cent of the window area, whichever is the lesser,
of each facade facing a street, if there is more than one such condition.
• No interior signage as described above may be internally
illuminated.

The Board makes no judgment at this time on the regulation of the
text of interior signage.
Temporary interior signage will not require approval of the Board.
The Board took particular interest in a portion of the Larchmont Code (357-16 Variances)
dealingwith thepower to grant variances. The Board has felt for some time that it should
have the power to grant relief from requirements of the signage regulations if it deemed
such relief appropriate, rather than refer these aesthetic decisions to the Zoning Board as
in the case now.
The Board of Architectural Review request that the Town Board review the language of
the Larchmont Code regarding variances, and seriously consider this matter.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the BAR will be held on February 16, 2005.
ADJOURNMENT
• Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was unanimously adjourned.
