HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019_11_6_Local_Law_No_12 Local Law No. 12 - 2019 This local law shall be known as the “Prohibition on Left Turns when exiting ‘Trader Joe’s’ parking lot” Law. BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck Section 1 – Purpose: The Traffic Committee and the Planning Board both have recommended that for safety reasons, left turns onto the Boston Post Road when exiting the shopping center at 1262 Boston Post Road should be prohibited. The Town Board finds that the safety concerns voiced by the Traffic Committee and the Planning Board are well founded. This local law addresses those safety concerns. Section 2 - Amendment of a current section of the Mamaroneck Code: Section 219-8 of the Code of the Town of Mamaroneck hereby is repealed and the following substituted in its place: § 219-8. Prohibited turns. No motor vehicle shall make a turn of the kind described below during the times and at the locations shown below: Name of Public Direction Prohibited At Intersection Highway of Travel Turn Hours/ Days With Boston Post No left turn All Exiting the parking Road lot of 1262 Boston Post Road Boston Post No left turn All Exiting the parking Road lot of 1265 Boston Post Road Boston Post No left turn All Exiting the parking Road lot of 1340 Boston Post Road Bryson Street East No left turn During school times on school Murray Avenue days Edgewood East No left turn All Weaver Street Avenue Name of Public Direction Prohibited At Intersection Highway of Travel Turn Hours/ Days With Heather Lane West No left turn During school times on school Weaver Street days, and on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Myrtle East No left turn 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday Preston Street Boulevard through Friday Myrtle East No left 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 North Chatsworth Boulevard Turn p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday Avenue through Friday Old North No left turn All Boston Post Road Hommocks Road Section 3 – Sign(s) to be Erected and Painting to be Done: An appropriate sign or signs shall be erected on and/or above, and/or striping shall be painted on the surfaces of the streets identified in sections 2 and 3 of this Local Law indicating where and when parking is prohibited or limited by this law. Section 4 – Severability: Should any provision of this Local Law be declared invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such declaration of unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not affect any other provisions of this Local Law, which may be implemented without the invalid or unconstitutional provisions. Section 5 – Effective Date: This Local Law shall become effective upon filing with the Secretary of State. October 11, 2019 2
