HomeMy WebLinkAbout1944_04_13 Town Board Minutes SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD TOWN OF MAMAROMCK, NEW YORK HELD APRIL 13, 1944 In the Trustees ' Room of the Bank of Westchester , Larchmont Branch, Larchmont , New York. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Mandeville at 10 o'clock N.Y. (Eastern War Time) . Present: Supervisor Mandeville Councilmen Griffin, Keeler and Stiner Absent: Councilman Embury The presence was also noted of Town Clerk Payne and Town Attorney Delius. The Supervisor stated he had called the meeting so that the Board might be advised of the progress being made in connection with the bid or offer of Miles Breger , to purchase the Hommocks Club. He stated that Councilman Embury was ill but he had furnished a waiver and consent to the meeting. He explained to the Board that since the last regular meeting of the Board , the Waterman bid had been withdrawn, and then asked the Town Attorney to report on the matter which had been referred to him at the regular meeting, which was to cooperate with the Village Attorney in preparint a proposed contract for submission to the Town and Village Boards for their approval. The Attorney then stated that while negotiations had not yet reached a point where a contract in final form could be submitted for approval, the proposal of Breger was to enter into a ten (10) year lease covering the golf course , club house and contents , title to which was in the Village , and eight (8) additional lots , title to which was in the Town, i. e. Lots Nos . 16 , 25, 260 27, 28, 37 , 38 and 39 on the Yap of Eagle Hommocks , R.O. No. 3571 , upon payment of $10,000 at the time of closing, $3 ,000 within one year and 15,500 a year for 8 years , at the end of which time , he was to receive a deed from the Village to the golf course and club house , together with a bill of sale for the contents and a deed from the Town for the 8 lots without any further payment. The pro- posal further included an option to take title after the second year , upon payments of $2,500 for each unpaid installment of rent. The Attorney stated that certain other matters, including the question of the Village title , fire insurance policies , and payment of fire loss, were yet to be negotiated. After discussion, it was on motion by Councilman Stiner , seconded by Councilman Keeler , unanimously RESOLVED, that this Board agrees in principal to approve a contract between Miles Breger and the Village of Mamaroneck, upon the basis of a ten (10) year lease of the Hmmocks Golf Course and club house with contents and a subsequent purchase , as outlined by the Town Attorney, provided that the Village of Mamaroneck first approve such contract, and this Board agrees , upon approval of such contract by the Village Board, to include in the contract , if made by the Village , Lots Nos. 16 , 25, 26 , 279 28, 37, 38 , and 39 on the Map of Eagle Hommocks , R.O. No. 3571. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:45 A.M. Town Clerk
