The Clerk presented the affidavit of publication and affidavit of post- ing of the "Notice of Public Hearing on the Preliminary Budget of the Town of Mamaroneck for the Year 1953" • The Supervisor explained that the 1953 Budget is generally the same as that of 1952, with the exception of salary increases and increments which amount to approximately $19,.400. He feels that the personnel of the Town is able and loyal and these salaries are far below what would ' Q r rode normally be paid them if they were working for independent i nstitu- rt is co nfirmed by the B arrin g ton Repo tions or private business. In other words, because of the reduction of debt and savings which have been effected over the past years, this budget would have been reduced by about 15 cents but for the inclusion of all expenditures in this budget and the continuance of the pay-as-you-go plan. With regard to the Police Department, he stated that there are 11 mem- bers in the local Pension Fund and 1 are members of the State Retire- em.
