Sobel, President of the Temple, made a short address as follows : "71r , Supervisor, Fire Chief Conte , Hembers of the Town Board, and z,eople of Larchmcnt and Mamaroneck: it is in the proper setting at this season of the year when millions of resole are celebrating As holiday, the princille of which is "Deice on Earth, Good Uill Toward Men" that we of the Larchmon-,, Temple should male this presentation , The people of cur Temple received from the community of Larchmant� concrete evidence of that s.LL irit, by the privilege of using this Fire House for our High Holy Day services during the formative years of our growth , it is safe cra say that, without the oppo'-- tnnity of holding these High of Day Services , the strength of our Temple would have been diminished . The result of our efforts and the r own given by you have now made it possible for us to have wn structure, over which is inscribed the Biblical injunction to 'Love Mercy - Do justly and Wall Humbly With Thy God ' . We feel that if all the members of the community live by the principles of the Christmas Spirit and the words of Micah, etched in the foorway of our building, our Town will be the best of places to live in . "We sincerely thank you and will remember for all time what you have done for us . We hope that the community will always express to each of its component parts , the same feeling of brotherly love that has been enunciated by the attitude of the Town and the Fire Department toward us .'' The Supervisor expressed the pleasure and gratitude of the Boara to Rabbi Schofer, Mr . Marcus and Mr . Sobel for the presentation of the beautiful plaque and the thought which prompted it . The Board then proceeded with the matter of the 2udget, and the Clerk presented the affidavit of publication and affidavit of posting of the "Notice of Public Hearing on the Preliminary Budget of the Town of Mamaroneck for the year 1955'' . Mr , Gerald McGrath went on record as a member of the Pine 2rco!_ issociaticn that at a meeting Konday night; that Association had expressed itself as against the increase of 50% for the Town Councilm members . Mr . joseph L . Seely, G Serpentine Trail, felt the same procedure as applies to the Suysr7iscr should apply to the other Council members . Er . Zaterman said he understands there has been no increase in the Councilmen 's salary for 10 years, in spite of the fact that all other Town officials have year The Councilmen, he in salary. Hr . Seely thinks this job increased because the job been increased a certain amount eac-'a said, are definitely below =ti3e standard should be stabilized at $1, 200 and not will then attract the wrong kind of man Er Dean as?ed that the increase be reconsidered . After some further discussion, Mr . Seely, for the record, stated "We are satisfied with the raise to $1 , 1305 from $1, 200, to take care of expenses" . 837 There being no further oueotions , the following resolution was moved by Er . 7aterman: THERMS , this Board has heretofore made, compiled and filed wit! the Town Clerl, a preliminary tax budget, containing the estimated probable revenues and estimated expenditures for the several departments, offices and other town and special district purposes for the year ISM; and 1HEREM , noti budget and calling lished on November Times , Kamaroneck, and as of the a public 27tb and and post completion and filing of s aid tax hearing thereon, has been duly pub- December 4th, 1934, in the Daily ad in the manner required by law; WHWEAS , a public hearing upon said tax budget was duly held this day, in accordance with the notice so published; and TEEREAS , all persons present were afforded an opportunity to be heard ; and THEREAS , this Board has reviewed the items in said prelim- inary tan budget as required by Section 113 of the Town Law, NOWI THEREFORE5 BE IT RESOLVED that the final estimates , as completed by the Town Board and filed in the office of the Town Clark, be and the some hereby are adopted as the budget for the year 1955, pursuant to the provisions of the Town Lamp and that said estimates , as so adopted, be entered in detail in the minutes of the Board as follows : (HERE INSERT COPY OY BUDGET) and it is further RESOLVED that the annual budget estimates of the expenditures of the Town of HamaTonec! for the fiscal year 1255, be adopted and confirmed and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to enter the same upon the minutes ; and that the sums of money nereinafter stated are hereby anpropriated from the current revenues, as pro- vided by law, for the offices , departments , boards , an! purposes hereinafter enumerated for expenditure in the manner oirectai by law, to wit : 83i� 77C ITT Z _T` 7- 77 ......... Taleyhone Company may request , He said the changing of the Larchmont Exchange and the dialing system should reflect a con- siderable savings to the Tel Company and it should be passed on to the consumers , On motion by the Supervisor, seconded by Councilman HcHeever, it was unanimously RESOLVED that the Town Attorney be and he hereby is instructed to confer with the Public Sea vice Com- miss ion and its Counsel with a view to intervening or joining with them in opposing the action taken by the New YorL Telephone Company to reverse the Public Service Commission in its refusal to grant increased rates or tariffs for service in this area. The Supervisor referred to Yr . O'Brien, the Superintendent L.L. Highways , and Lr . A . j. Foote, a letter from Hr . David L. Robbins requesting Way to the County aut installatic entrance to iorities and Q;f sidewalks from the entrance to Ronnie Roulen Glen. They will take this up with report back to this 2oard in 30 days . Raymond Bill, ?resident of Sales Management, inc . , stating that tie Town of Mamaroneck has erected a solid stone wall tetoeen Fenimore Road and the frontage of property known as Dlock 225 Parcel 450 and Slack 221 Tarcel S18, which fronts on Fenimore Road, owned 'v y? the Sill family or its representatives for more than 40 years, and asking that the Town assuTe him in writing that if, so , and when access is needed to the property from Fenimore Road, the Town will make no objection to cutting through the wall to obtain such access . This letter was referred to Councilman IcHeaver for report at the next meeting.
