Local Law No. 3 - 2014
This local law shall be known as the “The Four Handicapped Parking Spaces in the
Washington Square area and the One Handicapped Parking Space on Myrtle Boulevard”
Law.
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck as follows:
Section 1 – Purpose.
The purpose of this local law is to codify the handicapped parking spaces on North
Chatsworth Avenue, Murray Avenue, Washington Square and Myrtle Boulevard.
Section 2 – Creation of handicapped parking spaces on North Chatsworth Avenue
There shall be two (2) handicapped parking spaces on North Chatsworth Avenue. One
shall be in front of, and on the same side of the street as the property known by the
postal address of 21 North Chatsworth Avenue. The other shall be in front of, and on the
same side of the street as the property known by the postal address of 16 North
Chatsworth Avenue. Each space shall be located on North Chatsworth Avenue
approximately 260 feet northwest from the corner formed by the curbs on North
Chatsworth Avenue and Myrtle Boulevard.
Section 3 – Creation of a handicapped parking space on Murray Avenue
There shall be one (1) handicapped parking space on Murray Avenue in front of, and on
the same side of the street as the property known by the postal address of 14 North
Chatsworth Avenue. This space shall be located on Murray Avenue approximately 245
feet north from the corner formed by the curbs on Murray Avenue and Myrtle
Boulevard.
Section 4 – Creation of a handicapped parking space on Washington Square
There shall be one (1) handicapped parking space on Washington Square in front of, and
on the same side of the street as the property known by the postal address of 1
Washington Square. This space shall be located on Washington Square approximately
200 feet southwest from the corner formed by the curbs on Washington Square and
North Chatsworth Avenue.
Section 5 – Creation of a handicapped parking space on Myrtle Boulevard
There shall be one (1) handicapped parking space on Myrtle Boulevard in front of, and
on the same side of the street as the property known by the postal address of 172
Myrtle Boulevard. This space shall be located on Myrtle Boulevard approximately 220
feet southwest from the corner formed by the curbs on Myrtle Boulevard and North
Chatsworth Avenue.
Section 6 – Signs to be erected and painting to be done
An appropriate sign or signs shall be erected on North Chatsworth Avenue, Murray
Avenue, Washington Square and Myrtle Boulevard indicating the location of each
handicapped parking space. If deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Highways,
any of the handicapped parking spaces also may be painted to indicate the area
restricted to handicapped parking.
Section 7 – Severability
Should any court of competent jurisdiction declare any provision of this Local Law
invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration of unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not
affect any other provisions of this Local Law, which may be implemented without the
invalid or unconstitutional provisions.
Section 8 – Effective Date
This Local Law shall become effective on the date that it is filed in the office of the
Secretary of State.
